Getting Turkish Citizenship by Investment - Within the Scope of Current Legislastion - 2023

Buying Real Estate

With the Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law, the lower limit for acquiring citizenship rights through the purchase of real estate was increased from USD 250,000 to USD 400,000. This regulation entered into force as of 13.06.2022.

With a 3-year commitment not to sell the real estate worth 400.000 USD, Turkish Citizenship can be acquired within 3-5 months. It is not mandatory to purchase one real estate. Turkish Citizenship can be acquired by owning real estate with a total value of 400.000 USD within the borders of the Republic of Turkey. The applicant, his/her spouse and children under the age of 18 acquire Turkish Citizenship with only one investment of 400.000 USD.

It is very important that the immovable property is suitable for the citizenship application and the issues to be fulfilled within the framework of the legislation during the purchase phase. It may be impossible or very difficult to compensate for a mistake (Appraisal Report, Foreign Currency Purchase Certificate [DAB], etc.). Since 2018, we have been providing professional legal support to many foreign investors in the process of obtaining a Turkish passport.

Deposit money in the bank

The government has reduced the requirements for citizenship through bank deposits from USD 2,000,000 to USD 500,000, a 75% reduction. Thus, those with USD 500,000 or Turkish Lira equivalent will be able to apply for citizenship. Such deposits can be withdrawn or transferred after 3 years.

Other methods

There are other methods such as investing in government bonds, employing a certain number of employees in Turkey and investing in sectors approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
